Tips for Preventing Clogged Drains

Clogged drains happen to everybody. • First, never pour cooking grease down your kitchen sink. Hot grease eventually cools and hardens within your drains and will cause your sink drain to not let water and other substances through as easily. Save leftover grease in a can or jar and throw it in the trash once you are done cooking.

• You can also prevent clogged drains by throwing out your coffee grounds instead of pouring them down the sink. The next time you make a cup of coffee, refrain from dumping the excess grounds down the sink and put them in the trash can instead.

• Clogged drains can also be prevented by placing a drain guard on top of your drain. This will ensure that large items, hair, and substances that will harden within your drain will not cause blockages. These can be purchased at your local hardware, grocery, or convenience store at a low price.
