Although this video clip is a simulation, it is based on actual past scenarios and clearly illustrates the damage that a leaking water heater can do to a home if the problem is not attended to quickly.
If the water heater leak is not attended to and water runs through the house, then it is likely you may not only have to pay to have the leak repaired but also to repair or replace other water damaged items as well.
The best way to deal with a water heater leak is to stop it from happening in the first place. Having a licensed plumber regularly inspect all of your plumbing equipment and installations is a good preventative measure and may actually cost less in the long run. If a leak does occur, call a licensed plumber right away to prevent further damage.
